Catch more barbel!

The Window is Open………

But not for long if the forecasters are right!

This cold snap seems to have gone on forever but the past couple of days have seen a distinct rise in temperatures and that is enough to flip the switch and put a barbel in feeding mode.

The key is obviously to be there and then place a bait as close as you can to where our quarry is laying up.

My cousin Brian mailed me yesterday to say the cabin fever had almost got to him and he just had to get out on the river.

With the Ouse still looking out of sorts a short session on the Upper Lea beckoned.

Stret pegging a worm together with a few chopped up pieces for attraction, his first cast of the year resulted in a very welcome seven pounder.

Not long after a nice chub decided it too could not resist the tasty morsel and that was it, cabin fever laid to rest, enthusiasm instilled once again!

Whatever you do, don’t wait for temperatures to rise dramatically, it may not happen before close of play. Be aware of that window of opportunity, it may only be slightly ajar but that’s often enough.
