Mum, Pure Love

Mum, Pure Love

Those who died yesterday had plans for this morning and those who died this morning had plans for tonight…

Mum died on 9th April 2019. She had just fixed her hair into rollers, getting it ready for Grand Parents day at my nephews school the next day. She had a heart attack and died. She was 68 years old. She left behind a husband, three daughters and three grandchildren.

I like to believe that it was quick and painless.

I like to believe that she was happy and had been smiling lots that day.

I like to believe there was nothing anyone could have done to prevent it.

I like to believe she is all around me.

It’s hard to believe she is gone.

Mum’s love for her family was completely pure. She was incredibly proud of us all and was at her happiest in recent years looking after her grandchildren.

Mum was shy, sensitive and quiet. She wore a beautiful smile and had a wicked sense of humour and an infectious laugh. She looked much younger than her years and dressed so well.

Mum loved to write. She was an amazing poet and I read one of them out at her funeral. Public speaking is not my forte, (unlike my Dad and sisters who thrive on it!) so it was particularly hard for me. I’m so glad I managed it and was able to show everyone just how talented she was.

Dad says I’m very much like Mum. It hurts so much to know that the person I take after is no longer with me. But, in the words of Rod Stewart (Pure Love) “You’ll always be a part of me”.

Amy xx
