Catch more barbel!

GUIDING 2020

I’m now taking bookings for next season which covers the months of July, August, September and October.

The rivers I guide on are the Wye, Severn and Trent.

River Wye

There are any number of venues to choose, from Hay on the upper river down to below Ross, the choice is endless.

I have access to some excellent fisheries and can facilitate any reasonable number of anglers. If you want one to one guiding then that’s fine, if you prefer to fish with a friend or indeed a group of friends then just let me know and I will locate the best venue to suit your needs.

The Wye is now firmly established as one of our premier barbel rivers, not so much for huge fish but for numbers and stunningly beautiful looking barbel. There are plenty of mint conditioned chub as well and it isn’t uncommon to catch ten barbel and ten chub in a session and once you factor in the wonderful Wye Valley countryside it isn’t so surprising that this is now a favourite holiday destination for river anglers.

So join me for as many days as you want, I’ll point you in the right direction for accomodation, there are lots of excellent B &B’s within easy distance of the fisheries.

River SevernĀ

I can offer sessions on the lower river where there is every chance of a double figure fish. As darkness is often the best time I can arrange the timing to take advantage of this.

New for the 2020/21 season is fishing around the Shrewsbury area on first class fisheries where there are good populations of barbel in stunning surroundings. This is a unique opportunity that will also allow my clients the opportunity to join at an excellent rate.

River Trent

I doubt there’s anyone out there who would take me to task when I say that the River Trent is now the number one river in the country when it comes to the amount of big barbel. I’ve never seen anything quite like it in the fifty or so years that I’ve taken an interest in barbel. It is just a unique situation that offers the barbel angler so many fabulous opportunities.

I offer guided trips to the tidal river where barbel in excess of ten pounds are our target fish.

This river is another where you can expect lots of barbel action after dark so my sessions on here are built around 24 and 48 hours so that swims can be built up to best advantage.

To Sum Up;

July may seem a long way off and indeed it is, eight months as I’m typing this up on November the first!

However, having guided now for over ten years I have found that most bookings are made before the start of the new year so my advice is, as always, to not leave things too late.

I have around twenty dates to arrange from cancelled trips this season along with enquiries already received so it’s easy to see that a four month period can get fully booked quite quickly.

I supply all bait, naturals along with a full supplement from the superb Dynamite range; top quality tackle is available should you require; hot food and drink on the overnight sessions; all permits ( just make sure your licence is up to date) ; weekdays are always the preferred option but some weekends are available; you can catch a barbel using a centrepin reel; you will have my full and undivided attention for the full amount of time you decide to spend on the river.

Finally with Christmas just around the corner don’t forget that a guiding day makes a brilliant present so don’t hesitate to get in touch for more information.

Look forward to meeting up with old friends next summer and making many more new ones as well.

All the best,

Steve
